EP area: clean and self-cleaning storage model

Retention basins are made of modular blocks to prevent flooding in the event of a storm and to regulate the flow of water treated downstream of the system.

This type of installation often presents a dilemma: what if sediment enters the structure, it is impossible to get access for cleaning.

A study conducted at the University of Sheffield (UK) on hydro-clogging has shown that it is possible to prevent contamination of blocks by installing a Nidaplast system with drains at the bottom. In this way, most of the pollution found in precipitation passes directly through the drain and does not pass into the inner blocks.

Furthermore, a study conducted by the Technical Study Center CETE de I’EST on several Nidaplast pools, showed positive performance of the module after more than 10 years of use. The experience gained on more than one million m 3 laid also supports the position of Nidaplast EP / Nidaflow EP as the most secure system on the market, while guaranteeing a reduction in operating costs.

Operational principle

During a storm, water is drained into a tank through one or more collector pipes connected to the manhole. When the inlet flow is greater than the outflow, the water rises slowly in Nidaplast blocks before infiltration and softening.
